By working with local suppliers, we can reduce our carbon footprint by minimizing transportation needs and supporting regenerative agriculture practices.

Wellborn 2R cattle are raised on open pastures where they graze on natural grasses and are given plenty of room to roam. It’s believed that working cattle horseback is the best way to do the job, and a way of life that profoundly requests the land, the animals, and the cowboy way of life. We strongly believe that happy, healthy cattle produce the best beef, and the commitment to their well-being is evident in the exceptional quality of Wellborn 2R’s meat.

THE COWBOYS

The cowboy traditions of the West are still alive and well at Wellborn 2R Ranch. All the work is done on horseback just like it has been for over 150 years at the ranch. A trait they breed their cattle for is disposition - they are calm in nature and respond best to cowboys (and girls) on horses moving them.

In Texas, the term “cowboy” means one thing: authentic. The state is home to some of the best cowboys in the United States. Their uniqueness is not revealed by what they say, but by watching them. These cowboys earn a living caring for cattle and the range they ride, day in and day out. They do it with a skill that is bred in them, honed by hours in the saddle, and honored by those around them.

THE BEEF

High-choice premium beef didn’t happen overnight. It is the result of decades of research and diligent pursuit of quality. Just like the ranch, their Black Angus cattle program has a history. Everything they do out at the ranch is backed by generations of experience to bring you the highest quality meat you can buy.

To ensure that their beef is of the highest quality, Wellborn 2R Ranch works with a USDA-inspected processing facility that follows the highest standards for food safety and animal welfare. They also age their beef for a minimum of 30 days to enhance its tenderness and flavor.

THE PROCESS

Wellborn 2R Ranch implements conservation-minded grazing practices. Their beef isn’t just good for you, they produce it in a way that’s good for the environment too.

2R cattle graze on wide-open pastures with cowboys on horseback taking care of them using sound stocking principles. No expense is spared to select cattle with superior genetics and we insist on using specific care and feeding methods.

Wellborn 2R Ranch grows beef as nature intended – all-natural with no hormones or antibiotics. The beef is grass-fed and grain-finished, which means cattle start out eating the native grasses on the ranch before grains are introduced into their diet to produce meat with the desired marbling and taste.

With all the care and oversight each step of the way, the result is that of high-quality, tender, nutrient-dense beef you can feel good about eating.
